Mazda Bongo Oil Filters (Possible alternatives)

Dropping this information here as a future reminder to myself, in the event that I buy an old Bongo.

  • Diesel full-flow (common on RF-family diesels)
    • Mazda OE:
      • RFY6-14-302 (also shown as RFY2-14-302 / RFY2-14-302; older numbers may supersede to this)
    • Possible aftermarket equivalents (double-check before use):
      • MANN: W 811/80
      • MAHLE/Knecht: OC 205
      • BOSCH: 0 451 103 316
      • WIX: WL7171
      • FRAM: PH5317
  • 2.5L WL diesel (often Bongo Friendee / late-era imports)
    • Mazda OE:
      • WLY0-14-302
    • Possible aftermarket equivalents (double-check before use):
      • MANN: WP 928/80
      • MAHLE/Knecht: OC 275
      • BOSCH: 0 986 452 062
      • WIX: WL7175
  • Petrol engines (Mazda “M20x1.5” style spin-on used across many models)
    • Mazda OE:
      • FEY0-14-302 (Mazda shows this with alternates like B6Y2-14-302-P1)
    • Possible aftermarket equivalents (double-check before use):
      • FRAM: PH3593A
      • Purolator: L14460 / L14620
      • WIX: 51064

  • IMPORTANT NOTES
    • Diesel Secondary Filter: If there is a second “bypass / side-stream” oil filter
      • Some setups list a separate bypass filter that’s used in addition to the main full-flow filter.
      • Mazda OE:
        • 8259-23-802
        • K710-23-802
        • R21423802
      • Possible aftermarket equivalents (double-check before use):
        • Blue Print: ADM52104
        • Nipparts: J1313006
    • Quick “don’t-get-burned” checks
      • Confirm the thread, gasket diameter, and height match.
        • Especially true for WL and RF filters.
      • If you see a reference to “bypass/side-stream,” assume it’s a second filter, not a substitute for the main one.
